In-N-Out Burger is Headed to Austin Area. Who Cares?

When I lived in LA, one of the anomalies I couldn’t wrap my brain around are the ridiculous lines for In-N-Out Burger. Even in a jaded city like Los Angeles, the popularity of the In-N-Out has never waned.

Though I don’t particularly like or dislike In-N-Out Burger, I can tell you I had my certain times of ABSOLUTE HATE when as a personal assistant, I had to wait in the lunch line for an hour just to get a friggin’ cheeseburger and fries for my boss. Nothing feels more awesome than trying to maneuver with 75 other cars in a tiny-ass parking lot off of Sunset Boulevard.

But in case this something you enjoy, Austinites will now have the luxury to FREAK THE F out over In-N-Out Burger in Round Rock.

Eater announced today that reports of In-N-Out hiring a local planning firm to figure out zoning issues has surfaced. Though In-N-Out has not confirmed building a Central Texas location, this looks like good news for people who love it Animal-style in bed.

I gotta tell you, for comparable foodz, Austin burger peddler P. Terry’s tastes way better, is all-natural and local! And you’re way less likely to get into a fist fight in the parking lot.

Are you excited about In-N-Out Burger coming to Austin area?

Grew up in California and I can say hands down that P. Terry’s has a better burger.

Do you really need your opinion validated by EVERYONE on the planet? Couldn’t one or two skate by?

I agree. I lived in CA for 9 years and really enjoyed In-N-Out while I was there. After I moved back home to Austin, I was reacquainted with P Terry’s and how great it is. At first I was glad I had found a substitue for my In – N-Out fix, but a few months later, I went back to CA and tried it again.

that was when I realized that P Terry’s really is better in just about every way. Plus… Blue Bell Shakes!

I’ll fully admit to making a scheduled detour to In-N-Out on a rencent trip to Dallas. I’m a big P Terry’s and Mighty Fine burger fan too. There will always be places making better burgers than In-N-Out. Sometimes I miss LA, and having In-N-Out may just satisfy any crazy notions to move back.

Just moved to Austin, I love In-n-Out! Haven’t been to P. Terry’s, but I thought Hopdoddy’s was a remarkable burger. Thoughts?

In-N-Out is one of the few chains I actually like and will seek out. But then I don’t have one so close that I can visit more than about five time a year.
Somebody said Five Guys was pretty good, but they’re harder to find.
I’d rather buy local in most cases, but sometimes I’ll take a known over an unknown

i lived in LA for 8 years…and i am a full blown PTerry’s fan, to the max. I’m happy for good ole’ In N Out…but will not be running to Round Rock for animal style anything.
good post though…glad to know what’s going on!

Wow, a California woman in Austin with a jaded opinion! Alert the media…summon the hounds…! As for me, In-N-Out is a great product at a really good price. If you don’t like it, then don’t go there! If you were paid to go there, then just do your job and quit whining about it! Peace and love not hate.

      Amen.

IN-N-Out is indeed a fascinating phenomenon! Despite the gourmet/hip burger craze sweeping the country, In-N-Out is still impossibly crowded at all times, especially late at night when the drive-through lineup gums up traffic on the neighboring streets.
I recently read that there are more expensive/trendy burger places that have created burgers that pay homage to the In-N-Out one.
I just can’t get into the idea of waiting for 45 minutes for a fast food burger when I can’t even have a beer with it…
