What I Wore Today: The Day I Decided To Put On a Bra

What I Wore Today:
Shirt: Annie Henley, Alternative Apparel, White, $20.99 (on sale)
Skirt: Dawson Skirt, Alternative Apparel, Black, $22.39 (on sale)
Boots: Ralph Lauren motorcycle boots, used, Savers, $20
Jewelry: 1970s stainless steel necklace from my mother, seashell earrings I bought in Victoria, British Columbia for $5
Glasses: My taped up, sat on, much loved glasses from American Apparel, dead stock, $55

Notes: Not sure what that ray of sunshine beaming over my head is. My guess is that God was happy I finally put a bra on.

What I’m Doing Today: Finding ways to keep the feral cats from using my garden as their personal giant-sized litter box (I had to get dressed up for this)

Mood: Angry that I can’t find my toenail clippers, dehydrated

LOL what a weird pose. Not a very imaginative outfit either.

I already looked forward to your posts, but even more so now!! I love your sense of humor and sorry for those that just don’t get it. Their loss.

Ha. This is my backyard. Self-timer and me running in front of the camera makes my surroundings look weird.

It is SO weird how you (one) can dwell on bad comments. I know it’s part of the territory, but I can’t get used to it either. I mean, everyone understands that it shouldn’t bother them, but I feel as if it’s the fact that it is an experience with no real life equivalent. That’s why old-people are worked up over cyberbullying, I think. Strangers don’t just walk up to one another on the street with any regularity and say, essentially, “I want to hurt your feelings because I noticed that you were just standing there being mildly proud of yourself.”
The irksome part is that too many people seem to have run out of reasons to honestly disagree and don’t have the words at their disposal to engage negatively without being ad hominem.
My only critique is that you only thought you were angry about the toenail clippers…

If someone puts themselves out there on the Internet to show the world what they’re wearing, they are inviting both good and bad comments on the outfit. Isn’t that the purpose of posting it? To get comments AND opinions. Otherwise this is just a vanity project devoted to fishing for compliments. And calling an ensemble “unimaginative” isn’t that harsh of a criticism.

Haha. This wasn’t even the comment that I was referring to on Twitter.

OK I’m fighting my desire to be right with the fact that you made a good point.
        Here goes:
It’s not that “unimaginative” is too harsh a criticism, it is the comment’s tone. Mocking isn’t just mean, it’s boring (which is worse).
I feel like the larger idea isn’t about whether the criticism is appropriate or not, but rather about why trolls can ruin a person’s day even if they’ve been blogging forever.

Sometimes I wonder how many anonymous negative comments are from people I know! 😉 You’re right, nobody would say this stuff to you on the street. Even if I don’t like something I’ve read or looked at on the internet, I feel no need to be snotty/mean/rude/condescending towards the author. Even if I disagree with them, I try to make an nice articulate rebuttal. I think the fact is this- there are a lot of dumb people in this world.

Thanks, Tony. That comment was for Rob. I had a string of negative comments on different posts, but I agree with you!

Please tell me how you get them to stop using the garden as the litter box. My lavender garden smells like poop. That’s not what I had planned on… PS: Your outfit posts are my new fave.

Hey Nicole! Right now I’m trying coffee grounds and keeping the bed wet a lot. I might put up some sort of chicken wire. I’ll keep you posted on the coffee grounds. And thanks!

    Totally dig the sun beam.

Too bad you had to put the bra on to pull it off. 😉

What can I say? God likes bras.
