Discovering Your Sexuality Through Hairy Gay Men

Remember that age when you started discovering your sexuality?

That awkward, dreadful time when you didn’t understand why your male friends suddnely felt the urge to show you their penises while you were trying to reenact “X-files” episodes in the basement of your house, or why you got that funny feeling when you climbed the rope in gym?
When classmates started throwing around the words “pink”, “taco”, “tossing” and “salad” and you still thought they were talking about food, and your class president got detention for receiving something called a “blow job” on the 8th grade school trip to D.C.?
Then there you were. Clueless and wearing a sports bra. Fantisizing over a picture of a shirtless Elton John from 1972 hanging above your bed.

I wish I could say it was 1972 when I would gawk at this picture. That would make a little more sense.
I guess?
However, it was 1997. While all my friends carried pictures of Leonardo DiCaprio and Gavin Rossdale in their text books, I licked my lips over a twenty-five year old image of pudgy, gay piano-player.

We all know what Elton John looks like, but I’m going to paint you a portrait anyways. Here was a picture of quite possibly one of the most flamboyantly gay performers in history of the world with a pasty, doughy body covered in what looks like bear fur, standing in his shoe closet, wearing glittery high waisted pants with suspenders and no shirt. He had a shit-eating grinning on his face as he showed off his favorite pair of bejeweled platform shoes.
I was transfixed. At thirteen years old, I thought this was what a real heterosexual man was like.
I have mostly likely sealed my fate by marrying a closeted homosexual who enjoys collecting shoes and Bedazzling his clothing.

Anyways, I just tried Googling “shirtless Elton John” and “Elton John with no shirt”, but I’m guessing that’s not a popular search item. In fact, the only images that come up are pictures of people one should normally lust after like, Hugh Jackman and Zac Efron.
…Gosh, I really wish I had that picture right now…

I never liked Elton John. Still don't, as matter of fact. I was drooling over Tom Cruise back then. And right now I hate him…LOL

My first crush, as I remember it, was Justin from The Secret of Nimh. I just googled "justin secret of nimh" and the first page that came up disturbed me a great deal. It looked innocent enough at first but I'm pretty sure its intended audience is rat cartoon fetishists.

Let me retract. Ahem, my first crush was on uncle Jesse from Full House.

I discovered my sexuality BECAUSE I always thought men were all too hairy, and at least a little gay…ever watched a contact sport?!?

that is some funny stuff! who knows what makes us lust after the people we did/do. lately i keep getting crushes on red-heads. being that i am also a (fake) red-head this probably confirms that i am highly narcissistic or something. which sucks. but red-hair does not.

I thought Elton John was awesome back in the day and I still do now. I, however, didn't fantasize about him. I do have a friend that used to fantasize about Freddie Mercury when she was in middle school though.

Elton is a genius. You know it when you can connect to his songs at a tender age knowing nothing about "love"
He's like Hendrix in Rock and Roll and Kurt Cobain in Seattle.

…Freddie Mercury… mmm, drool-inducing, even with bad teeth and AID's…

@Johana- Well Elton John never liked you! 😉
Haha. I definitely don't like Elton John NOW.

@Tocalabocina- I think Uncle Jesse titillated every young girl's never region. I was at a dinner with him once, right after his wife left him. He looked like Charles Manson. Not sexy.

@Angie- Ha. After I read your comment, I was like, "Maybe I shouldn't have written that…"

@The Eternal Worrier- Such a great song and GREAT album! GYBR still is one of the best.

@Rachel- Thanks for comment. I'm following now! 🙂

@Seductress- Thanks for finding me! Glad I found you too!

@Sophie- I kind of want to watch a contact sport right now….

    @Steff- Hahaha….love it! I always wish I could find a man like me… 😉

@Melissa- I think your friend and I would have been best friends.

@Zachary- Elton's earlier stuff ('70-'74) was near perfect. Can't beat it to this day.

Nah I didn't mean it like that, I just meant it's weird how obviously it's a shared experience that is not often discussed. haha ok I'll shut up now.

I've never liked boy bands or people I'm SUPPOSED to like. While my friends were swooning over Kurt Cameron, I had a crush on Warren Beatty of all people. I was kind of obsessed with the movie "Dick Tracy". No one understood. Looking back, my 13 year old self kind of creeps me out!

… I feel a little awkward posting this, but I really relate to this. And I don’t think it’s unfortunate or a bad thing at all. I’m 18 and I’m wholeheartedly obsessed with Elton John. For fucks sake, I have a real nude picture of him from the early 80s. I love that man and all that he stands for. And through his music and his humbleness, I started to find him extremely sexy. It was all unexpected. I mean, I knew he was gay from the beginning- in fact he was gay, 70, married to a great man and has two beautiful children. But it still didn’t change the fact that I am hardcore obsessed with him. Yes, an 18 year old girl in 2017 who wants to bang Elton John actually EXISTS. I had my first orgasm actually listening to his music. I wish I was kidding sometimes but I’m not, and I really don’t care how weird people think I am. I really love this man. Of course, I know I’m gonna have to push him aside and find a real, reachable STRAIGHT man, but for now, I’m enjoying my fantasies with Elton.
If you think I’m the only nutjob, you’re suprisingly wrong. I have so many “young” friends who gush over his body in sexual ways, too. I know a 21 year old, a 19 year old, 2 18 year olds, like 3 or 4 17 year olds,6 16 year olds, and a 14 year old that all love this man to death and have seen him live. We all met through Instagram, Facebook and even YouTube. Honestly, Elton John is still a “teenage idol”. (Pun intended). Granted, we’re not fantasizing over him at age 70, but rather this younger days. But still, Elton John fangirls actually exist and thrive in our own community.
Yeah, finding Elton John shirtless and stuff is not a popular search topic. But when you’re obsessed like me, you find ways, lol. I’m an avid Elton John collector. I have TONS of magazines and books/biographies featuring him, all of his records and nearly all his CDs and cassettes, a billion posters of him, Elton John icecream and fragrance, Elton John bags and an Elton John lunchbox, like I won’t even bother writing the rest because theirs numbers in the THOUSANDS here. So it’s no surprise that I have like 3,500 pictures of him. I have the picture you’re talking about in this post, too. I have it digitally and I also have it as a postcard as well. Ya can just email me at [email protected] if you want that nostalgia again. It’s a really lovely picture of him (and goofy lol).
My most prized possessions are one event and one object. On September 28th, 2016, I saw Elton live for the first time. I had seats in row 13, but I snuck up to row 3 and 4 where he was able to see me… I was screaming and showing, and he got up from his piano… walked to the edge of the stage… pointed RIGHT at me and smiled! It was such a simple gesture but it mean the WORLD to me. I was just becoming a true Elton fan at that time. A moment like that made me feel like I was on the right track.
My other biggest prized possession is his autograph. I have two of them, but one of them was personalized to me. I send him a letter in the summer when I thought he would be back at his home in England. I wrote him a letter, sort of “confessing” my love for him. I was scared after I sent it that it would creep him out, as I even told him that I loved him unconditionally at the end. But to my surprise, only 12 days later, I got an envelope in the mail. I recognized his handwriting on the envelope where he wrote my address, and nearly swooned! I opened it up inside, and he gave me a picture of him that I didn’t even ask for! On the picture, he signed it, saying,
    “To Brianna,
Thank you for your beautiful letter!
    Love, Elton”
After that… you can say I am forever head-over-heels in love with this humble, gracious, sweet man. He’s a HUGE mega famous celebrity who is BUSY. And yet he was kind enough to read my letter, grab an envelope an write my address on it, grab a picture and sign it more than just his name, and send it off to me! I know that sounds like such a simple thing but believe me… I have autographs from celebrities no where near his celebrity status, who sign my stuff very hastily and sloppy. This man went above ans beyond.
And he always does. With his generosity, with his music, with his humor, good looks and more. I know Elton John is not everybody’s cup of tea, and that’s okay. But all I suggest is to really learn about a celebrity through fan experiences and valid biographies to get a true insight on who they are instead of basing your knowledge on those awful gossip magazines/websites.
